Fayette, Mo. - After serving as a graduate assistant in the athletic department for the past two years, Christian Knighton has been elevated to Assistant Director of Gameday Operations & Facilities.
He will also serve in a dual role as the Assistant Women's Wrestling Coach for the Eagles.
"I am thrilled to keep Christian on staff in a more expanded role," said Assistant Athletic Director Tim Crowley. "Christian has been a vital piece in our operations for both the varsity and reserve programs. Keeping him on staff will ensure that our gameday operations will continue to thrive."
From 2023 to 2025, Christian served as a graduate assistant in the athletic department, supporting Crowley in all aspects of gameday operations for both varsity and reserve programs.
Knighton also served as a volunteer assistant for both the men's and women's wrestling programs for the past two years. As a volunteer assistant, Knighton helped coach a combined 14 NAIA National Qualifiers, five All-Americans, two NAIA National Runner Ups, and two conference champions.
"I am excited to officially name Christian to our staff for this upcoming season," stated Head Women's Wrestling Coach Tim Prescott. "For the past two years, he has been instrumental and loyal, stepping up big when we needed him most. We are thrilled to have his energy and passion as we continue to build."
Christian is a 2023 graduate of Avila University in Kansas City, Missouri, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations and Advertising. In addition, he was named to the Dean's List four times.
While at Avila, Knighton also wrestled under current CMU Head Men's Wrestling Coach Graham Karwath for two years. Off the mat, he completed an internship in the sports information department, gaining experience as a broadcaster, announcer, and camera operator.
Before Avila, Christian completed his associate's degree in Sports Management from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in 2021.
He is a native of McKinney, Texas, and completed his master's degree in education with an emphasis in athletic administration from CMU in the Spring of 2025.
