Central Methodist scored a run in the top of the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead in game one. The Eagles added to their lead with four runs in the top of the third, building a 5-0 advantage. Evangel rallied with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, but juniors AJ Pfeifer (Godfrey, Ill.) and Freddie Cabrera (Isabela, Puerto Rico) combined to allow just one hit in the final two innings as CMU picked up the 5-3 win. Sophomore Ryan Revoir (Olathe, Kan.) earned the win for Central Methodist, allowing two earned runs on four hits in five innings of work, while striking out two. Cabrera got his second save of the season, shutting down the Crusaders in the bottom of the seventh inning.
In game two, the Eagles again put one run on the board in the top of the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead. The Eagles were held scoreless the remainder of the game, but freshman Rhett Quinlan (Boonville, Mo,) scattered six hits and struck out three as he earned the complete-game win for Central Methodist.
Junior Raymond Fuentes Jr. (Isabela, Puerto Rico) and senior Tyler Belt (Macon, Mo.) each accounted for two RBI in the first game, while sophomore Steve Bazner (Waterford, Mich.) recorded the fifth RBI in the win. CMU's lone RBI in game two came off the bat of sophomore Mike Allen (Mattawan, Mich.).
Central Methodist improved to 11-16 overall and 7-7 in the HAAC with the sweep. Evangel dropped to 12-14 on the season and 7-7 in conference play. CMU and Evangel were scheduled to play another doubleheader in Springfield Saturday afternoon, but those games have been postponed until Tuesday or Wednesday due to weather.
