FAYETTE, Mo. - Central Methodist dropped a pair of games to Evangel (Mo.) by scores of 8-6 and 10-5 on Saturday to close out the Eagles' 2014 stint at Estes Field.

Eleven Eagles played for the final time at Estes Field on Saturday and were recognized between games. They included�Brian King,�Rhett Quinlan,�Alex Hunter,�Alfredo Souffront,�Jesse Zellner,�T.J. Singh,�Mike Wagner,�Kyle Poynter,�Tyler Paule,�Neil Hansen�and�Tony Shipp.

Wagner scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the first inning of game one to give Central Methodist (19-21, 11-11) a 1-0 edge, but Evangel (28-13, 16-6) tied the score in the second on a sacrifice fly by Michael Headlee.

A Zellner RBI single to left started a four-run third inning for the Eagles, giving them a 2-1 edge. Hayden McMillon doubled to left center, plating Singh to make the score 3-1. A Poynter two-run single gave the Green and Black a 5-1 cushion.

Zellner added a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning to make the score 6-1, but the Crusaders answered with seven runs in the fifth inning, all on two outs. Jacob Garrison hit a three-run home run to left to cut the Eagles' lead to 6-4. A Headlee two-run homer to left broke a six-all tie. The Green and Black put two runners on base in the home half of the inning but were unable to score.�

Nathan Jones had three hits, one RBI and two runs scored for the Crusaders.

Wagner and Poynter each had two hits in game one. Poynter and Zellner had two RBIs apiece. Hansen scored twice.

Jacob Smith (1-0) got the win with four and two-third innings of relief pitching. He allowed one earned run on four hits with two strikeouts and a walk.

Quinlan (2-5) made the start on the mound but took the loss, allowing six earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts and three walks. Paule threw an inning of two-hit, scoreless relief with one walk in the seventh frame.

Poynter erased a 2-0 Eagles' deficit in game two with a three-run jack to left center in the second inning, his fifth dinger of the season and second of the series.�

A Garrison RBI double in the third tied the contest at three.

Singh and Zellner responded with back-to-back RBI singles in the fifth, as the Eagles regained the upper hand 5-3, but Evangel scored seven runs, including six in the sixth, in the final two innings to pull of the four-game sweep. A Garrison grand slam over the left field fence broke a five-all tie in the sixth.

Garrison ended game two with three hits, five RBIs and two runs scored.�

Singh and Zellner each had two hits in their final game at Estes Field. Poynter had one hit and three RBIs in his final home game. Five different Eagles scored one run.�

Jacob Shipman (3-2) earned a win on the mound, surrendering five earned runs on eight hits with three walks in five innings. Bryce Wilson threw two innings of hitless ball with a walk.

Colby Lovelace (1-1) dropped the decision, allowing four earned runs on two hits with two walks in a third of an inning out of the bullpen. Ian Walsh started the game but took a no decision, allowing three unearned runs on five hits with three strikeouts and a walk in five innings.

Central Methodist concludes the regular season with a four-game series at Culver-Stockton (Mo.) April 25-26.
