The Eagles have fallen into the elimination side of the bracket in the eight-team double-elimination tournament and will play No. 4 Avila at 10 a.m. Friday.

Central Methodist (25-27) struck first on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning, when Aldo Adamus hit a solo home run over the left-field fence to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. The home run was the second of the season for Adamus.

Eagles starting pitcher Ian Walsh shut down the Bobcats over the first five innings, but Peru State took the lead in the top of the sixth. A one-out RBI single by Mark McGinnity tied the score at 1-1. Two batters later, McGinnity scored on an error to give Peru State its first lead of the game at 2-1.

Peru State (35-14) scored another run in the seventh inning on an RBI single by Scout Villanueva, but Central Methodist answered with a run in the bottom-half of the inning. With two outs, Mike D'Eletto hit a drive into deep left field, circling the bases for an inside-the-park home run. D'Eletto's third home run of the season cut the Peru State lead to 3-2 heading into the eighth inning.

Central Methodist only managed two other hits in the game besides the two home runs off Peru State starting pitcher Manny Arciniega. Joba Ferrell had a leadoff single in the first inning and Adamus singled to right-center in the fifth inning for his second of two hits to lead the Eagles. Arciniega (6-2) pitched eight innings to earn the win, striking out nine batters and walking two.

Miguel Navarro (2) closed the ninth for the Bobcats to earn the save, striking out two of the three batters he faced.

Walsh (5-5) was the losing pitcher of record for Central Methodist. In a complete-game effort, Walsh struck out seven and walked five batters while allowing four runs (three earned) on 11 hits over eight innings.
