With the split, Central Methodist University moves to 33-14 overall, and 18-8 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play. The Eagles are currently tied for first place in The Heart's Eastern Division with Grand View University. Graceland University moves to 12-37 overall and 6-20 in The Heart following the Saturday split.

In game one on Saturday, the Eagles fell behind early, trailing Graceland 1-0 after three innings of play. The Eagle bats came to life in the fourth inning and scored at least one run in the final four frames. CMU would go on to win game one 8-2. Central outhit Graceland 14-9 and capitalized on the YellowJackets three errors in the ballgame.

CMU starting pitcher Josh Thomas (Parker, Colo.) earned the win (7-2), going all seven innings, while allowing just two runs on nine hits with five strikeouts and three walks.

Offensively, the Eagles were led by the top three hitters in their order. Centerfielder Joba Ferrell (Chicago, Ill.) went a perfect 5-for-5 in the leadoff spot with three doubles, three runs scored and two RBI's.

In game two, the Eagles offense was held in check, limited to just four hits in the ballgame. Graceland University scored two late runs; one in the fifth inning and another in the sixth inning to hold on for a 2-0 victory.

CMU starting pitcher Tyler Hull (New Franklin, Mo.) went the distance in the losing effort. In his six innings of work, Hull allowed two runs on five hits, with four strikeouts and a walk.

The Eagles and the YellowJackets will finish off their four game series Sunday afternoon, with another doubleheader scheduled to begin at 1pm. Both game will be seven innings.
