Kansas City, Mo. - Senior pitcher Mason Schwellenbach was tabbed as this week's Heart Baseball Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the Heart office Monday afternoon.
The Saginaw, Michigan native, finished the week with a perfect 2-0 record, earning wins over Lyon College on Feb. 22 and William Woods on Feb. 28.
In the win over Lyon, Schwellenbach tossed a complete-game shutout, pitching all seven innings on the hill and giving up just two hits with 10 strikeouts in Central's 4-0 victory.
In the finale of the CMU Series, the NAIA Preseason All-American concluded the week with a 10-1 win over William Woods. He again threw a complete game with six-inning of work and 11 strikeouts. He didn't allow an earned run in either start.
The Eagles will be back on the diamond March 6 in St. Louis, Mo. to face Missouri Baptist University at 3:00 p.m.
