Kansas City, Mo. - Senior outfielder Adrian Martinez was selected as this week's Heart of America Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
This marks the fourth player of the week honor for CMU baseball in 2021, as Kenny Otero, Sergio Macias and Mason Schwellenbach also earned the honors.
The Toa Alta, Puerto Rico native had an impressive week against Heart rivals (RV) MidAmerica Nazarene and Park University, finishing with a .615 batting average and a 1.154 slugging percentage through five games. Martinez collected eight hits including four doubles and a home run. He also drove in 10 runs and was a triple shy of reaching the cycle in the series opener against Park.
The No. 5 baseball team will be back in action on Friday, April 2 in Marshall, Mo. for the first day of the series against Missouri Valley.
