Sterlington, La. - The No. 14 Central Methodist Baseball program split the second day of the Cajun Collision Friday in Sterlington, La.
The Eagles began the day with a 9-2 victory over Tabor College, followed by a close 8-6 loss against LSU-Alexandria.
In game one against Tabor, the Eagles peppered the Blue Jays with runs in the first, second, third, fourth and sixth innings.
Central scored three runs in the second and third innings, highlighted by a three run homer from Khalil Thrasher in the second, and a solo home run from Alan West and an RBI double from Joey Fitzgerald Jr. in the third. West capped the victory with a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth.
In addition, West tossed a complete game on the bump, giving up only two earned runs on five hits with nine strikeouts.
West, Bobby Nichols, and Robbie Merced each batted three-of-four, including a pair of doubles for Merced.
Against the Generals, CMU found themselves trailing 5-2 entering the top of the sixth inning. The Eagles would plate four runs, highlighted by a two-RBI single from Tanner Sears and a single from Logan Doody to take a 6-5 lead over LSU-Alexandria.
The Generals would answer right back with three runs in the bottom half of the frame to regain the lead 8-6. Central was unable to respond in the top half of the seventh, as LSU-A held on for the two run victory.
Nichols, Sears, and Doody all recorded two hits in game two. Nichols also drew one walk and recorded a stolen base. Clayton Burke got the start on the bump, pitching five innings and allowing four earned runs on five hits. He also struck out seven batters.
Joshua Tucker pitched the final inning, striking out two batters.
Central will close out the Cajun Collision with a matchup against No. 1 nationally ranked Southeastern University Saturday, Feb. 11 at 11:00 a.m.
