Kansas City, Mo. - Central Methodist senior pitcher Alan West was named the NAIA National Pitcher of the Week by the national office Tuesday.
West, a graduate transfer from Lewisville, Texas, threw just the second no-hitter in the last 10 years Sunday against Benedictine. He struck out 10 batters and gave up just one walk. The lone run that came from BC was a sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning.
Throught eight appearances so far this season, West has compiled a 6-1 record, which includes five complete games. He has tallied 67 strikeouts and a 2.29 earned run average through 51 complete innings.
For his efforts this week, he was named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Central will begin a two-week road swing, starting with a four-game series against the Evangel Friday, April 7 at 1:00 p.m. in Springfield, Mo.
