Ozark, Mo. - The No. 1 seeded Central Methodist Baseball program fell in the first game of the Heart Conference Tournament to No. 4 seeded Baker University, 8-7, in 12 innings Friday night in Ozark, Mo.
It was a back and forth affair through the duration of the game, as Central held a 7-5 lead entering the bottom of the sixth inning. Baker would plate two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to even the score at 7-7.
Both sides remained deadlocked until the bottom of the 12th inning, when the Wildcats walked it off on an RBI-single to left field.
Jeremy Conforti led the Eagle bats with an RBI triple and a double. Robbie Merced, Tanner Sears, and Logan Doody all picked up two hits apiece. Bobby Nichols had the most efficient day at the plate for Central, batting .500 along with a run scored and a stolen base.
West tossed the first six innings of the game, striking out five batters. Justin Guzman, Clayton Burke, Larry Riddle Jr., and Alexander Billo also saw action on the bump for the Eagles.
Central will next face No. 7 seeded William Penn Saturday, May 6 at 1:30 p.m. in an elimination game.
