Eagles Dominate Graceland on Family Weekend

FAYETTE, Mo. — The Central Methodist University football team got back on the winning track on Saturday afternoon, using a balanced offensive attack to dominate Graceland on Family Weekend, 42-7.

Kaylon Johnson (SR/Memphis, Tenn.) rushed for a career-high 205 yards on 24 attempts. He also scored three rushing touchdowns, including a 74-yard scamper to end the scoring in the 3rd quarter.

The Eagles got on the board first with an 8-play, 72-yard touchdown drive to open the game. The Yellowjackets capitalized on a short field after a CMU turnover, evening the game at 7 with 5:27 left in the first quarter.

Central Methodist then rattled off 35 unanswered points to pull away. Through the air, Jordan Williams (SR/Memphis, Tenn.) went 21-of-26 with 203 yards and two touchdowns.

Damontay Allen (SR/Conway, Ark.) led the receiving corps with eight receptions for 73 yards and a TD. Kooper Wilson (SO/Versailles, Mo.) caught five balls for 61 yards and Cory Luke (JR/Stanberry, Mo.) snagged a touchdown. Shawn Simmons (JR/Kansas City, Mo.) impressed when relieving Johnson in the backfield, rushing seven times for 49 yards.

Defensively, the Eagles stuffed Graceland's rushing attack, only allowing 72 yards on 29 carries. The defensive line forced pressure on Graceland's QB all day, forcing four sacks, including two by Will Miles (SR/Rock Island, Ill.).

On special teams, Nathan Hampton (SR/Sikeston, Mo.) placed two punts inside the five-yard line, including a 60-yard boot that rolled out of bounds at the one-yard line. Samuel Petrin (SO/Bunnell, Fla.) made all six of his extra-point attempts

The Eagles will return to action next Saturday with a road trip to Oskaloosa, Iowa. The squad will face off against William Penn with kickoff set for 6 PM.
