Eagles Fall to Valor in Season Finale

Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist Football program concluded the 2022 season with a 33-0 loss to Evangel Saturday afternoon at Davis Field. 

Prior to the game, CMU honored its 2022 senior class which included; Anthony Johnson, Donald Garland, Joseph Slattery, Trenton Byers, Matt Allred, Erik Mays, Josiaha Cortez, Nathaniel Marshall, and Davion Stockard

With the defeat, Central finishes the season with a 1-10 mark and a 1-4 record in Heart South Division play. The Valor improve to 7-3 and 4-1 in conference action. 

Despite both sides being near even in first downs, the Valor outgained Central in total yardage 385 to 139. However, both defenses forced three turnovers, including two fumbles and an interception for CMU. 

In his final game as an Eagle, Stockard led the defense with a game-high 15 tackles, including six solo tackles, two tackles for loss, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. The native of St. Louis, Mo. finishes his career with 137 total tackles including 117 just in 2022 alone. 

Lontas Mcclinton also reached double-digit tackles with 14 including two tackles for loss. Mujahid Camel finished the game with eight tackles while Donald Garland added six. 

Mays also recorded an interception midway through the second quarter. 

Freshman running back Malik Brewer had a career-day for Central, carrying the ball 20 times for 88 total yards to lead the ground effort. Junior wide receiver Chase Rankin finished the afternoon with three receptions for 47 yards.
