CMU led much of the first seven minutes of the game, but a Graceland three-pointer gave the Yellowjackets an 18-17 lead with 12:58 left in the first half. Graceland led the remainder of the period, stretching the margin to as many as eight points before going to halftime with a 40-33 lead. The Yellowjackets opened the second half with a 6-2 run to extend their lead to 11 at 46-35. CMU rallied to within 54-55 after a three-pointer by junior Mike Regan (Knob Noster, Mo.) and a basket by senior Tyler Bredehoeft (Alma, Mo.) with 7:49 left in the game. The Eagles finally regained the lead at 61-60 after a basket by senior Jake Clark (St. Charles, Mo.) with 5:05 remaining. The Yellowjackets outscored CMU 15-4 over the next five minutes, though, to quickly turn CMU's one-point lead into a 10-point deficit with less than 20 seconds left. Senior Curtis Smith (LaBelle, Mo.) made a three-pointer with eight seconds on the clock, but it was not enough as the Eagles suffered the seven-point loss.

Central Methodist finished 28-of-55 from the field in the game for 50.9 percent, while Graceland was slightly better at 29-of-55 shooting for 52.7 percent. Graceland also made nine three-pointers to CMU's six. The Yellowjackets finished with a 31-24 advantage in rebounding.

Clark led four CMU players in double figures with 20 points, while also pulling down a team-high six rebounds. Regan added 16 points, while Bredehoeft finished with 15 points, six rebounds and four assists. Smith tallied 11 points and a team-high six assists. Senior Clint Hamilton (Pflugerville, Texas) was the only other CMU player to score in the game, recording six points and four rebounds.

CMU dropped to 6-7 overall and 1-3 in the HAAC, while Graceland improved to 5-6 on the season and 2-2 in the HAAC. The Eagles will have three weeks off before finishing their non-conference schedule with a 2 p.m. game at Hastings College on Jan. 2.
