CANTON, Mo. - Central Methodist saw its four-game win streak end Thursday after an 87-80 loss at Culver-Stockton (Mo.) in Heart of America Athletic Conference action inside Charles Field House. The Eagles and Wildcats have now split the last six meetings.
Jojuan Graham led five players in double figures with 26 points for Culver-Stockton (12-12, 7-6). Graham finished 11 of 15 from the field and made all four of his free throws as the Wildcats shot 60.7 percent (17 of 28) in the second half to record its fourth win in the last five games.�
A game that saw 10 ties and six lead changes swung in favor of the Wildcats for the final time midway through the second half. Christian Jones scored back-to-back buckets to jump start a 12-5 stretch for a 69-62 lead with 8:47 remaining.�
Central Methodist (17-8, 7-6) remained within one possession after consecutive baskets by Mitchell Wendling, but a three-pointer by Travon Mitchell stretched the lead to six and put the game out of reach. Mitchell hit four three-point shots and finished with 17 points for the Wildcats, while Jones added 11 points and seven rebounds.�
Mike McCode also hit four three-pointers to post 22 points for the Eagles, while Mitchell Farr recorded 19 points and six rebounds. Wendling finished with 10 points and eight rebounds. Scott Stegeman had eight points and eight rebounds. Greg Williams posted eight points and seven rebounds. Quinten Hunter pulled down five boards.
Central Methodist outrebounded Culver-Stockton 41-33, including 13-5 on the offensive glass.
The Eagles return to Puckett Field House to host Avila (Mo.) on Saturday at 4 p.m. CT.
