Ankrom has been a four-year student-athlete for Farmington (Mo.) High School and coach Justin Callahan.
"My goal after high school was to get a quality education and to play four more years of basketball," Ankrom said. "CMU has met and went above my standards and has changed my life."
Sherman likes the passion that Ankrom exhibits every time he sets foot on the basketball court.
"He is always one of the more talented players on the court, but he is also the hardest, most disciplined worker," Sherman noted. "He is a good scorer and rebounder but will also get up and defend and do all the 'little things' that help teams win. He's a true team player with excellent leadership skills, but it is the passion and energy that will allow him to succeed."
The son of Kirk and Rachelle Ankrom, Jordan will be the second member of his family to play NAIA basketball after sister Morgan played at John Brown (Ark.) for four seasons.
"At 6'4 he will be an undersized post player but will learn to develop his game to include both inside and out of the paint," Sherman commented. "He has a nice jump shot with good range and is a beast in the paint. He is a fiery competitor that will find himself seeing action next season as a freshman."
Ankrom averaged 20.7 points, 11.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game as a senior while shooting 54.7 percent from the field, 30.4 percent from distance and 75 percent from the free throw line. The all-time leading scorer for Farmington totaled 1,601 points and 828 rebounds in his career.
Ankrom was a MBCA first team All-State selection as a senior and junior and helped guide the Knights to the 2014 Class 4A Final Four. He was also named to the MSBA All-State second team as a junior and was voted All-Mineral Area Athletic Association and All-District for three seasons.
