With the loss, Central Methodist falls to 6-4 overall and 2-2 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. With the victory, Avila improves to 8-3 overall and 2-2 in The Heart.

Central Methodist struggled shooting from the field on Saturday, finishing at 31% after a half of play. The Eagles shot 4-of-12 from beyond the three-point arc and went 9-for-17 from the charity stripe. Avila University shot a solid 53% from the field in the first half, and shot 7-for-14 from beyond the three-point arc to take a 50-31 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Eagles shot the ball a little better, but still struggled and finished under 40% from the field. CMU outscored Avila 47-45 in the second half, but fell 95-78.

In the loss, the Eagles had three players score in double-figures. Ron Lee led the way with 18 points. Quinten Hunter finished with 15 points, five steals, four blocks, four assists and three rebounds, and Tyrell Thirkield finished with 12 points.

Central Methodist has the week off, before returning to action next Saturday when they host rival Missouri Valley College. The Lady Eagles will get things started at 2pm, followed by the men at 4pm.
