Baldwin City, Kan. – The Central Methodist University men's basketball team closed out their three-game roadtrip on Wednesday evening at Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas. The Eagles fell by a final of 79-68.
With the loss, the Eagles fall to 11-7 overall and 8-6 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play. With the victory, Baker University improves to 9-8 overall and 6-7 in The Heart.
Wednesday's game between the Eagles and Wildcats was a tale of two halves. In the first half, Central Methodist and Baker played to a 29-29 tie. Neither team shot the ball extremely well in the first half. CMU shot just 13-for-31 from the field and 3-for-7 from beyond the three-point arc. The Eagles did not attempt a single free-throw in the first half and were outrebounded 21-14.
In the second half, the teams exchanged buckets to begin with, before CMU went on a small run of their own. Then with about eight minutes remaining in the game, the Wildcats went on a 12-2 scoring run, and never looked back. Both teams shot 15-for-20 from the charity stripe in the second half, but once again CMU was outrebounded 20-12. Baker shot 16-for-29 from the field, and CMU shot just 11-for-25. The Eagles also hit just two of their 14 three-point attempts in the second half.
In the loss, only two players scored in double-figures for Central. Cole Adair (SR/Fishers, Ind.) led the team with 20 points on 9-of-17 shooting. Ron Lee (SR/Oak Park, Calif.) finished with 18 points, while shooting 7-for-8 from the free-throw line.
The Eagles return home following their three-game roadtrip this Saturday, to host 4th ranked William Penn University. The Eagle men will tip-off at 4pm, with the women to precede the men's game at 2pm inside of Puckett Field House.
