OLATHE, Kan. – Central Methodist men's basketball hit a big second half run to overpower MidAmerica Nazarene, earning a 70-59 victory.
The Eagles (11-5, 6-4 Heart) had three members finish in double digits, led by Terrance Bush (SR/Des Moines, Iowa). Bush, who had 20 points, was 7-for-13 from the field and sunk four three-pointers while also nabbing eight rebounds and four steals. Isaiah Thurmond (SR/Alton, Ill.) finished the contest with 17 points and eight rebounds. Josh Robinson (JR/Normal, Ill.) rounded out the top scorers with 10 points, while Cameron Tutt (SR/Owensboro, Ky.) secured a team-best of 16 rebounds.
The Pioneers took advantage of a slow start by the Eagles in the first half, stretching their largest lead to nine with just over two minutes to go. Baskets by Robinson, Thurmond, and Heath Agnew (SR/Mountain City, Texas) sent CMU on a 6-1 run to close out the first half and brought the game back within four.
The Eagles lagged through the opening minutes of the second half, trailing by as many as 11 with nine minutes left in regulation, but were sparked offensively as Bush caught fire with back-to-back buckets from beyond the arc. A third three from Bush tied the game at 55-55 with six minutes remaining, igniting a 15-4 CMU run to close out the contest.
Central Methodist will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 12, to host Mount Mercy. Game time inside Puckett Field House is set for 4 pm.
