LAWRENCE, Kan. - The No. 20 Central Methodist University men's basketball program fell in a pair of contests at the Ernie Stevens Jr. Men's Basketball Classic hosted by Haskell Indian Nations University over the weekend.
GAME 1 - vs FRIENDS UNIVERSITY (L 76-63)
The Eagles trailed by over 30 points heading into the intermission and couldn't mount a comeback. Central only shot 36% from the field and 25% from three-point range.
Kyle McDermed (JR/Frankfort, Ill.) and Josh Robinson (SR/Normal, Ill.) were the only Eagles to reach double-figures, scoring 14 and 12 points, respectively. Seth Stegeman (SR/Jefferson City, Mo.) came off the bench to lead the team with six rebounds.
GAME 2 - vs HASKELL (L 83-75)
Robinson led the squad against Haskell with 27 points, going 14-for-18 from the free-throw line. He also recorded five rebounds and four assists. McDermed scored 12 points with four made three-pointers. Rijnard Hartman (JR/Magaliesburg, South Africa) aso reached double-figures with 10 points and six rebounds.
Next up for the Eagles will be the conference opener on the road against Grand View University on Saturday, November 16. Game time is set for 6 PM in Des Moines, Iowa.
