ATCHISON, Kan. – The Central Methodist University men's basketball program saw its season come to an end in a road loss at Benedictine on Saturday afternoon.
A slow start for Central's offense saw the team trailing by as many as 16 points midway through the opening half, but a 15-5 run down the stretch helped the Eagles cut the deficit to single digits at the intermission. Teams opened the second half by trading baskets, but a 9-2 run by Benedictine stretched difference back to 16 points with nine minutes remaining.
Central was able to rattle off a 10-2 comeback run down the stretch and trailed by just one point with 1:11 to go. After another exchange of baskets, a long shot from Isaiah Burton (SO/Kansas City, Mo.) knotted the score at 74-74 with 34 seconds remaining in regulation. The Ravens regained the lead after hitting a runner in the paint with under 10 seconds to go and held the advantage to secure the win as Central went 0-4 from the freethrow line in the final three seconds of play.

Central closes out the season with an overall record of 12-18, finishing 11-13 in conference play.
