Columbia, Mo. - The Central Methodist men's basketball team fell to Columbia College by a score of 67-60 Monday night in Columbia, Mo. The Eagles fall to 0-2, while the Cougars improve to 2-1 overall.
Both teams exchanged baskets in the first eight minutes of the game before Columbia College went on a 14-4 run to take a 10 point lead. Central would trail by as many as 12 points in the first half, but went on a long scoring run of their own, outscoring the Cougars 19-4 to take a 32-27 lead into the locker room.
CMU would retain its lead for the opening nine minutes of the second half before Columbia College tied the game at 45-45 with 10:54 to go. The Cougars grabbed a 54-53 lead at the 6:48 mark and did not relinquish it for the remainder of the game. Columbia College closed the second half on a 13-7 scoring run to defeat Central, 67-60.
Fode Camara led the offense with 19 points and 10 rebounds, earning his first double-double of the season. The redshirt senior converted on eight-of-10 field goals and all three of his free throw attempts.
Chandler Bevans and Trent Lyles both reached double figures as well as each collected 10 points. Lyles also knocked down two three-point baskets in 35 minutes of action and Bevans recorded two blocks.
Central finished the evening shooting 40-percent from the field, compared to 43.1-percent for Columbia College. The Cougars also won the battle of the boards, grabbing 40 rebounds compared to CMU's 28.
The Eagles return home to host Bacone College on Friday, Nov. 13 at 7:00 p.m inside Puckett Fieldhouse.
