Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist men's basketball team lost a tough contest to Park University by a score of 95-69 Wednesday night in Puckett Fieldhouse.
With the loss, CMU falls to 6-9 overall and 3-7 in conference action, while the Pirates improve to 5-4 overall and in the Heart.
The opening five minutes were a low scoring affair between the two sides, as the game was tied at 8-8 at the 14:43 mark of the first half. Central grabbed a two-point lead on a basket in the paint from junior forward Chris Orozco and stretched its to as many as five points after Marcus Anthony knocked down a three-point field goal with a little under 10 minutes to play in the opening frame.
An 8-0 scoring run and sharp defense from Park put the Pirates back out in front, ultimately stretching their lead to 17 points at halftime, 45-28. Park maintained a double-digit lead for the remainder of the second half, handing CMU their first conference loss of 2021, 95-69.
Fode Camara concluded the contest with 18 points and 13 rebounds good enough for a double-double. The newcomer from London, England Jonathan Brown, finished the game with 13 points in a little under 27 minutes of action. Marcus Anthony and Austin Fisher recorded eight points and two assists each.
The Eagles will look to bounce back with a matchup against Benedictine College Saturday, Jan. 10 at 4:00 p.m. in Atchison, Kan. The Ravens won the earlier contest between the two schools, 71-66, back on Nov. 28 in Fayette.
