Lamoni, Iowa - The Central Methodist men's basketball team was never able to find an offensive rhythm in a 72-55 road loss to Graceland University Wednesday night in Lamoni, Iowa.
With the defeat, CMU falls to 15-8 and 6-6 in conference play, while the Yellowjackets improve to 6-17 and 2-10 in the Heart.
The Eagles found themselves in an early hole, trailing 12-0 after the first 5:18 of the first half. Central was able to trim the deficit to single digits before Graceland stretched its lead back out with a three-point basket at the 7:57 mark. CMU trailed 35-24 at halftime.
Central tallied 31 second-half points but was unable to complete a comeback, as they ultimately fell by 17.
Jonathan Brown and Isaiah May were the only two Eagles to reach double figures, tallying 13 and 10 points respectively. Senior guard Tim Cameron recorded nine points and added eight rebounds, three steals, an assist, and a block.
Fellow senior Fode Camara scored seven points and finished second on the team with seven rebounds. May joined Camara on the boards with seven rebounds.
Graceland did a majority of its damage from the three-point line, as the Yellowjackets converted nine three-point baskets for 45-percent. The Eagles just edged Graceland on the glass with 40 rebounds compared to 39 for the home team.
Central returns home to host Peru State College Saturday, Jan. 29 at 4:00 p.m. inside Puckett Field House.
