Central wins third-straight with 11-point victory over Grand View

Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist men's basketball program picked up its third consecutive win with a 85-74 victory over Grand View Saturday night inside Puckett Field House.

With the win, the Eagles improve to 18-8 and 9-6 in conference play, while the Vikings fall to 13-9 and 8-7 in the Heart.

Trailing 26-23, CMU closed the first half on a 15-4 scoring run to take a 38-30 lead into the halftime break.

The Vikings managed to keep pace with Central in the latter stages of the second half, trimming the CMU's lead to as few as two points. However, Central's efficient shooting kept them out in front for the rest of the game, going on to earn a convincing double-digit victory.

The standout stat of the evening for CMU once again came from beyond the arc, as the Green and Black knocked down 14 three-point baskets. The 14 three-pointers tie for the most by the Eagles this season and the most in conference play. It marks the second-straight game CMU has has converted double-digit three's.

Sophomore guard Jonathan Brown led the Eagles' offense with 23 points and seven rebounds. The native of London, England shot over 50-percent from the field, highlighted by five three-point makes.

Isaiah May had another impressive outing, as he scored 14 points in 39 minutes of action. The sophomore guard shot 50-percent from the floor for the second straight game and knocked down four threes.

Fode Camara tallied a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. He also added four steals and three assists.

Marcus Anthony was the final Eagle to land in double figures with 12 points in 16 minutes off the bench.

Central dominated the glass, grabbing 49 rebounds compared to just 23 for the Vikings. Both Camara and Tim Cameron grabbed double-digit boards with 12 and 11 rebounds respectively.

The Eagles also made the most of their opportunities from the charity stripe, knocking down 15-of-16 free throw attempts for 93.8-percent.

CMU will travel south to take on Evangel University Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Springfield, Mo. The winner of Wednesday's matchup will gain sole possession of the Heart South Division standings.
