Fayette, Mo. - Central Methodist Head Men's Basketball Coach Matt Sherman has announced the hiring of Forrest Hicks as the new Assistant Men's Basketball Coach.
"We are excited to have Forrest as our new Assistant Coach," stated Sherman. "He brings a lot of experience in a short, but very successful coaching career. Forrest has been a part of multiple final four programs and has had other successes in the national tournament. He has seen what it takes to be great in the Heart and NAIA. I have no doubt he will help us reach our goals."
Hicks joins Central after spending three seasons as an Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Rock Valley College in Rockford, Ill. In three seasons with the Golden Eagles, RVC reached the 20-win plateau each year. In 2021-22, Rock Valley won 24 games including a third-place finish at the national tournament.
During his time at RVC, Forrest coached one All-American, five all-conference selections, and seven All-Region performers.
Prior to his stint at Rock Valley, Hicks served as a graduate assistant at William Penn University under Head Coach John Henry. While with the Statesmen, Hicks served as a recruiting coordinator, an academic liaison, and assisted with individual player development. He also served as the head JV coach for WPU during his first year.
In two seasons at William Penn, the Statesmen compiled an overall record of 52-17, earning two trips to the national tournament including a Fab Four appearance. In the two years, he was at William Penn, Hicks coached eight Heart All-Conference selections and five NAIA All-Americans.
Previously, Hicks served as an assistant coach at Kansas City Kansas Community College from 2016-17. During his lone season with the Blue Devils, he coached three all-region performers.
A native of St. Joseph, Mo., Forrest played four seasons at the University of St. Mary in Leavenworth, Kan. During his freshman season at USM, the Spires won the KCAC and qualified for the NAIA Division II National Tournament.
Hicks graduated from the University of St. Mary in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Masters in Business Leadership from William Penn University in 2019.
