Olathe, Kan. - The Central Methodist Men's Basketball program fell to No. 4 nationally ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan, 85-74 in the final game of the Heart/KCAC Classic Friday night in Olathe, Kan.
Central's record now stands at 1-1 on the young season, while OKWU improves to 4-0.
Oklahoma Wesleyan jumped out to an 18-point lead at halftime, dropping 50 points in the opening frame. However, Central would outscore Oklahoma Wesleyan 42-35 in the second half, trimming the deficit to as few as six points in the closing minutes of the game.
OKWU closed the final 7:02 of the game outscoring Central 15-10 told hold off any comeback hopes.
Senior guard James Jordan recorded his second-straight 20-plus scoring performance, tallying 25 points on nine-of-16 shooting from the floor.
Everett Stubblefield was the only other Eagle to reach double-figures, scoring 14 points in addition to a team-high five assists and four rebounds.
Isaiah May and Trent Lyles nearly cracked double-digit scoring with nine points each, with all of Lyles' points coming from beyond the arc. May also recorded a team-high three blocks.
The difference maker in the game was rebounding, as Oklahoma Wesleyan grabbed 40 boards compared to just 31 for CMU. May led Central on the glass with eight rebounds.
CMU will host Avila University in their home opener Thursday, Nov. 10 at 7:00 p.m. inside Puckett Field House.
