Eagles Hold on For Fifth Straight Win

Des Moines, Iowa - The Central Methodist Men's Basketball team won its fifth consecutive game, eeking out an 82-79 win over Grand View Wednesday night in Des Moines, Iowa.

The Eagles improve to 13-9 and 10-6 in conference play, while Grand View falls to 6-16 and 4-12 in the Heart.

Central held a 78-71 lead with just 42 seconds left in regulation. Grand View would storm back, scoring eight straight points to take a 79-78 lead with 12 seconds remaining.

Senior guard James Jordan drove down the lane on the following possession to draw a foul and make a trip to the free throw line for two shots. The native of Detroit, Mich., made both attempts to put Central back out in front, 80-79 with seven seconds left.

Grand View attempted a game winner as the clock wound down. A missed layup by the Vikings gave Central the offensive rebound and Marcus Anthony knocked down two more free throws to seal the win.

Four of Central's starting five reached double figures, with Jordan leading the way with 22 points  on 50 percent shooting from the floor.

Quinan Rieves secured a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Jaquan Morris added 14 points and Isaiah May 11.

Grand View just edged Central on the glass with 31 rebounds compared to 29 for CMU.

The Eagles converted on 42.9-percent from three and 87.5 percent from the charity stripe.

Central concludes its two game road stand with a trip to Clarke University Saturday, Feb. 4 at 4:00 p.m. in Dubuque, Iowa.
