Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist Men's basketball team extended its win streak to eight games with an 87-79 victory over Mount Mercy University Saturday afternoon inside Puckett Field House.
The Eagles improve to 16-9 and 13-6 in the Heart, while the Mustangs fall to 7-18 and 4-16 in conference play. Central also keeps their undefeated record at home intact at 10-0.
The first half was a high-scoring affair, as both sides remained deadlock at 46-46 at the halftime break. Central took a 58-57 lead at the 12:29 mark of the second half and never looked back, maintaining a lead to the final whistle.
Altogether, five Eagles landed in double figures including four in the starting five. James Jordan led the way with 17 points, along with five rebounds, five assists, and five steals.
Jaquan Morris followed with 16 points on 50 percent shooting from the floor. He also recorded three rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Quinan Rieves nearly recorded a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds.
Marcus Anthony scored 13 points on five-of-eight shooting in only 17 minuts of action. Everett Stubblefield rounded out the double digit scorers with 10 points.
Both teams shot well from beyond the arc, as Central converted on 39.1 percent of it attempts compared to 40.7 percent for the Mustangs. Jordan, Morris and Stubblefield all knocked down two three-point baskets.
Collectively, the Eagles shot 51.6 percent from the floor.
Central controlled the glass, outrebounding Mount Mercy 39-31.
The Eagles remain at home for a huge matchup against Baker University Monday, Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m. inside Puckett Field House.
