Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist Men's Basketball program fell its final home game of the 2022-23 season against No. 7 William Penn by a score of 95-86 Saturday afternoon inside Puckett Field House.
The Eagles fall to 17-11 and 14-8 in the Heart, while the Statesmen improve to 25-3 and 21-1 in conference play.
Prior to tipoff, Central honored its 2022-23 CMU senior class.
The Eagles found themselves in a hole at the halftime break, trailing 48-30. Central outscored the Statesmen 56-47 in the second half, cutting the lead to 77-76 at the 4:05 mark of the second half.
However, William Penn would close the game on an 18-10 scoring run, securing a nine-point victory.
James Jordan had a career day in his final home game as an Eagle, dropping a career-high 30 points on 11-of-15 shooting from the floor. He converted on all seven of his free throw attempts in addition to four assists, two rebounds, and a steal.
Isaiah May tallied 18 points in his final home game to go along with 11 rebounds, securing a double-double. May also knocked down three three-point baskets and added two steals, two blocks, and an assist.
Everett Stubblefield scored 15 points off the bench, and Jaquan Morris rounded out the double-digit scorers with 13 rebounds.
The difference in the game came from long range, as Central converted on just 19.2 percent of its three point attempts, compared to 43.5 percent for the Statesmen.
William Penn controlled the glass, outrebounding CMU 48-39. Fifteen of those 48 rebounds came on the offensive glass, which resulted in nine second chance points.
The Statesmen also received solid production from their bench, scoring 29 points compared to 19 for the Eagles.
Central has earned the No. 6 seed in the upcoming Heart Conference Tournament. The Eagles will travel to No. 3 Evangel for the Heart Quarterfinals Thursday, Feb. 23 at 7:00 p.m. in Springfield, Mo.
