Central Clipped by Park Wednesday Night

Central Clipped by Park Wednesday Night

Parkville, Mo. - The CMU Men's Basketball team fell to Park University in a road contest, 80-73, Wednesday night in Parkville, Mo.

Central now stands at 7-5 and 4-4 in the Heart of America, while the Pirates improve to 6-6 and 5-3 in conference action.

Both teams could not have been more even in the first half, trading bucket after bucket for almost the entirety of the first 20 minutes of play.

Marcus Anthony, who converted the first shot of the night, had an exceptional half leading all scorers with 16 points. He went six-for-eight from the floor and chipped in two rebounds and a steal.

The Eagles had a four point lead with 13:25 remaining in the first half. But the Pirates were able to tie things up quickly and stop CMU's momentum. Both teams headed into halftime knotted at 41-41.

The Pirates started out strong in the second half establishing an early lead. Central found themselves down by just four with 50 seconds left.  But Park made several key free throws down the stretch to propel them to a seven-point victory.

Anthony registered 25 points, his second highest point total of the season to lead all scorers. Brandon Tchouya was the only other Eagle to reach double figures, scoring 10 points and adding six rebounds, four assists, and a pair of steals.

The trio of Destin Jenkins, Kai Jordan, and Bol Tong each recorded seven points

Central finished the night shooting 46 percent from the floor, but just 20 percent from long range. Park had a solid showing from the field, shooting nearly 55 percent from the floor and 33 percent from three.

The Pirates had the advantage on the glass, outrebounding Central 36-30.

CMU will conclude their three game road trip on Saturday, Dec. 14, as they travel to Lamoni, Iowa to take on Graceland at 4:00 pm.
