Kansas City, Mo. - Central Methodist senior forward Bol Tong was named the Heart of America Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week, which was announced by the conference office Monday.
In Central's first game after Christmas break, Tong led the Eagles to a narrow 80-78 win over Mount Mercy Saturday in Cedar Rapids. The Kansas City native led all scorers with 22 points of which 12 came from three-point range.
Additionally, the 6-9 forward grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds, good enough for his first double-double of the New Year.
The most impressive shot from Tong came inside the final minute when he converted a corner three to give CMU the lead in what seconds later proved to be the game-winner against Mount Mercy.
Tong and the Eagles will be back on the road on Wednesday. They will travel to Canton, Missouri, to face Culver-Stockton College at 7:30 p.m.
