Eagle Bowling Opens Season at Mid-States Championships in Wichita

Wichita, Kan. - The Central Methodist Men's and Women's Bowling programs opened the 2024-25 season at the Mid-States Championships this past weekend in Wichita, Kan. 

The event, which was held at Bowleo Northrock, consisted of numerous NAIA, NCAA Division I, and NCAA Division II schools from across the country. 

The CMU Men finished the tournament with a 28th-place finish, qualifying for Sunday's Baker team games.

Senior Cole Johnson led the way individually with a 93rd place standing (1,022 - six games), followed by Lane Cook in 95th place (1,016 - six games) and Branden Groce in 98th place (1,006 - six games)

Lukas Heldenbrand (104th - 986 - six games) and Dustin Linneman (118th - 958 - six games) also competed for the men. 

On the women's side, the Eagles finished 26th despite competing with only three bowlers and battling injuries, which prevented them from competing on day two. 

Freshman Emma Kitchens was Central's highest finisher, placing 95th with a six-game score of 805. Maya Elliott (108th - 720 - six games), and Lauren Williams (117th - 669 - six games). 

Both programs will be back in action at the Jayhawk Collegiate Tournament beginning Saturday, Oct. 26 in Topeka, Kan.
