Bowling Posts Strong Showing at Columbia Cougar Clash

Columbia, Mo. - The Central Methodist Men's and Women's Bowling programs took part in the second annual Columbia Cougar Clash, hosted at AMF Bowlero in Columbia, Missouri, this past weekend. 

Central featured one varsity men's and one varsity women's team, and two JV men's teams at the event. 

For the women, CMU finished in ninth place with a total of 4,960 pins. The program bowled four team games for a score of 2,964, followed by 16 Baker games for a tally of 1,996 pins. Individually, Savannah Rutar posted a 10th-place finish with a 177.5 average through four games. Alexis Livesay landed in 29th place with an average of 154.3 in four games bowled. 

Maya Elliott (47th - 456 - three games), Alayan Abernathy (49th - 437 - three games), Kathryn Chappell (50th - 398 - three games), Emma Kitchens (60th - 213 - two games), and Lauren Williams (66th - 133 - one game) also competed for the Eagles.

The varsity men finished fifth in their division after bowling in four team games (3,674) and 16 Baker games (3,092) with a total of 6,766 pins. 

Branden Groce (18th) led the way for the men, bowling an average of 193 over four games. Chase Schnieders (21st) followed closely behind with a 191.9 average. 

Lane Hook (24th - 766 - four games), Cole Clayton (38th - 691 - four games), and Lukas Heldenbrand (44th - 678 - four games), rounded out Central's varsity competitors. 

The JV men's teams finished second (6,363) and seventh (1,756) in the qualifying team standings, which resulted in CMU's JV1 team advancing to bracket play against Ottawa. 

The Eagles won the bracket after defeating Ottawa by scores of 170-148 and 216-182.  

Hayden Johnson was CMU's highest finisher, placing 12th with a four-game total of 789. Adrian Wright (27th - 739 - four games), Jordan Shepard (28th - 738 - four games), Ethan Duffman-Rode (42nd - 685 - four games), Hunter Scott (43rd - 680 - four games), Garrison Parkhurst (53rd - 654 - four games), Declan White (66th - 562 - four games), and Takudswa Mukonzamariro (70th - 540 - four games), also bolwed for the Eagles. 

The men and women will both be off until the conclusion of the holiday break, next competing in the Avila Eagle Invitational Saturday, Jan. 24, at Aaron's Family Fun Center in Belton, Mo.
