Eagle Golf Teams Set to Open Spring Seasons
The Central Methodist University men's and women's golf teams are scheduled to get their spring seasons underway in the next week. The Eagle men will travel to Springfield, Mo., to open the season Friday and Saturday at the Evangel Invitational. The CMU women and men are then both scheduled to compete in the William Woods Invitational Monday and Tuesday.

The Central Methodist men return three golfers from last year's team that finished sixth at the Heart of America Athletic Conference championships. Sophomore Nathaniel Oliver (Republic, Mo.) returns after finishing sixth individually to earn All-HAAC honors at last year's conference championships. Oliver also had a strong fall season for the Eagles this year. Freshman Ty Lieberman (Boonville, Mo.) also had a solid fall season for the Eagles, finishing in the top 10 at all invites in which CMU competed.

The Central Methodist women return their entire team from last season, when CMU finished fourth at the HAAC championships. Senior Rachel Keim (Carterville, Ill.) returns after finishing as the HAAC runner-up last year to lead the 2011 CMU women's team. Sophomore Shawn Beard (Moberly, Mo.) just missed earning All-HAAC honors in 2010 as she finished 10th at the conference championships, and freshman Chelsea Damer (Joplin, Mo.) should also be a contender at this year's HAAC championships after a strong fall season for CMU.

The Evangel Invitational will be held at Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield, while the William Woods Invitational will be at Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton, Mo.
