The Eagle men shot a two-day total of 646, including the best day-two total of the tournament of 317, to finish second behind host Hannibal-LaGrange University. Hannibal-LaGrange finished 11 strokes ahead of CMU in the team standings. Heart of America Athletic Conference opponents Culver-Stockton College and Evangel University both finished behind CMU with scores of 661 and 668, respectively.
Junior Nathaniel Oliver (Republic, Mo.) led CMU with a third-place finish after shooting a 12-over-par 156, which was seven strokes behind Hannibal-LaGrange's Lucas Morande, the tournament champion. Freshman Austin Rapp (Boonville, Mo.) finished sixth with a 160. Junior Brad Howell (Troy, Mo.) shot a 165 to finish eighth, while sophomore Ty Lieberman (Boonville, Mo.) finished tied for ninth with a 167. Junior Logan McDaniel (Lebanon, Mo.) was two strokes behind Lieberman to finish 12th overall. Junior Wesley Sowell (Springdale, Ark.), senior Tyler Peasel (Troy, Mo.) and sophomore Aaron Mahurin (Steelville, Mo.) shot scores of 175, 176 and 181 to finish 19th, tied for 20th, and 23rd, respectively.
On the women's side, just two teams competed, while Hannibal-LaGrange had three individuals compete. CMU shot a 917 to finish second behind Culver-Stockton, whil shot a 772. Junior Kelli Esquivel (Marshfield, Mo.) led CMU with a 192 two-day total to finish sixth. Freshman Kayla Esquivel (Marshfield, Mo.) tied for eighth with a 214, while freshmen Mallorie Renth (St. Louis, Mo.) and Kendl Asbury (Fletcher, Mo.) were 10th and 11th with scores of 225 and 286, respectively.
The Central Methodist golf teams will be back in action Oct. 11 and 12 when they host the CMU Fall Invite at Hail Ridge Golf Course in Boonville, Mo.
