MARYVILLE, Mo. - All five Central Methodist players finished day one of the 2013 Heart of America Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship in the top 18, giving the Eagles a five-stroke lead over Baker (Kan.) heading into Tuesday's final action at Mozingo Lake Golf Course.
Coach Jim Ray Kluck and his Central Methodist squad are vying for their first-ever HAAC men's golf title and a spot in the 62nd Annual Men's Golf National Championship, which takes place May 14-17at the Creekside Golf Club in Salem, Ore.
The Eagles totaled a 615 (310-305) on Monday. Ty Lieberman leads the squad and is tied for third overall after firing a three-over 149 (74-75). Nathaniel Oliver (76-79) and Austin Rapp (80-75) are tied for ninth overall after each player shot a 155. Brad Howell is tied for 16th after carding a 158 (82-76). Logan McDaniel sits tied for 18th after recording a 159 (80-79).
Defending tournament champion Evangel (Mo.) is sixth, 19 strokes back of the Eagles.
