Freshman Thyago Catharino was selected as the 2009 Heart of America Athletic Conference men's soccer offensive most valuable player by the HAAC coaches, while earning 1st Team All-HAAC honors. Junior Pat McVey and sophomore Jordyn Cummins also received All-HAAC soccer honors for Central Methodist.

Catharino, a freshman forward from Sao Paulo, Brazil, was selected to the All-HAAC 1st Team and received HAAC Men's Soccer Offensive MVP honors after scoring 16 goals on the season to go with his four assists. Those numbers ranked him second in the conference for both goals per game and points per game. Catharino also led the conference in shots and shots on goal per game this season. He was twice named the HAAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week this season: Oct. 26 and Nov. 8.

McVey, a junior forward from St. Charles, Mo., received 3rd Team All-HAAC men's soccer honors after leading CMU with eight assists, while scoring six goals. He led the conference in assists per game, while also ranking in the top five in the HAAC in shots, shots on goal and game-winning goals per game for the season.

Cummins was the lone CMU women's soccer player to receive All-Conference recognition, landing on the 3rd Team. The sophomore defender from Orlando, Fla., recorded one assist and 12 shots for CMU this season, including eight shots on goal. Cummins has been an anchor for the Lady Eagles' defense during her first two seasons while playing in all 36 matches.
