After making it halfway through the warmup time, the Central Methodist and Tabor teams spent nearly an hour in their locker rooms to avoid the lightning and rain at Davis Field. When the storm finally passed enough for the teams to square off against each other, CMU struck first with a goal by sophomore Murun Altanhuyag (Mongolia) from an assist by senior Rob Humphrey (St. Charles, Mo.) in the 24th minute. It was Altanhuyag's team-leading third goal of the season for the Eagles.

Just more than a minute before halftime, Central Methodist had a throw-in. Junior Kyle Redd (Keller, Texas) received the ball and quickly passed it into the box, where junior Cesar Golfetti (Sao Paulo, Brazil) shot it past the Tabor defense and goalkeeper for the Eagles second goal of the match and his first goal of the season. In the second half, Tabor managed to get six shots, but none found the net as the Eagles held on to the 2-0 lead. With 15:48 remaining in the match, the official called the game due to more lightning in the area, giving Central Methodist the shutout win.

CMU had 22 shots in the match, including nine on goal, while Tabor had just nine shots in the entire match, only one of which was on goal. Sophomore Corey Schelle (Alton, Ill.) played the entire match in the net for the Eagles, earning his second shutout of his CMU career.

The Eagle men will try to improve to 4-0 at home this season when they return to action Tuesday against Ottawa University. Tuesday's contest is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., following the women's match between CMU and Ottawa.
