Graceland scored quickly to take a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute of the match. CMU answered with goals by sophomore Murun Altanhuyag (Mongolia) and junior Ronan Doyle (Porto Alegre, Brazil) in the 29th and 45th minutes, to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead at halftime.

In the second period, Graceland again scored quickly, tying the score at 2-2 in the 48th minute. The Eagles answered when freshman Grant Geary (Kansas City, Mo.) scored his first collegiate goal in the 74th minute to give CMU the lead back at 3-2. The Yellowjackets found an answer, scoring in the 82nd minute to again tie the score and when neither team was able to score the remainder of regulation, the match went to overtime. Less than six minutes into the first overtime period, a Graceland shot deflected off a CMU defender and crossed into the goal to give the Yellowjackets the 4-3 win.

Graceland out-shot the Eagles 10-7 in the match, with each team posting six shots on goal. Central Methodist dropped to 4-6-1 overall and 0-4 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference with the loss. Graceland improved to 4-7-1 and 2-2 in the conference. CMU will be back in action Tuesday in a non-conference match at 5 p.m. at William Woods University.
