CMU and William Woods played evenly through the first period, going to halftime in a scoreless tie. In the 76th minute, CMU finally broke the tie when Altankhuyag scored his fifth goal of the season. Sophomore Corey Schelle (Godfrey, Ill.) played 90 minutes in goal, picking up four saves and the shutout win for the Eagles. CMU held a slight edge in shots, finishing with 10, while the Owls had nine.

Central Methodist improved to 5-6-1 on the season with the win, while William Woods dropped to 8-4-1. The Eagles will return to Heart of America Athletic Conference play Saturday when they host MidAmerica Nazarene University in a 3:15 p.m. match at Davis Field.
