Missouri Valley scored five goals in the first half to take a big lead into halftime. The Vikings added another goal in the 52nd minute to make it 6-0. Central Methodist was unable to get going offensively, with their two best opportunities getting blocked by the Viking defense.
Central Methodist managed just eight shots in the contest, including four on goal. Missouri Valley finished with 18 shots, 11 of which were on goal. Freshman Kyle Yocks (Belleville, Ill.) surrendered five goals in his 45 minutes in goal in the first half for CMU, recording two saves. Junior Corey Schelle (Godfrey, Ill.) recorded three saves, while allowing one goal in the second half.
With the loss, Central Methodist dropped to 7-4 overall and 1-2 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. Missouri Valley improved to 10-1 on the season and remained perfect at 3-0 in HAAC play. CMU will return to action with another HAAC contest Saturday when the Eagles host No. 16 Benedictine College in a 7:30 p.m. game.
