FAYETTE, Mo. - Men's soccer forward Ricardo Valsien�scored two goals Wednesday night for Central Methodist University in a 2-0 Heart of America Athletic Conference victory over Avila University at Davis Field.
Central Methodist (8-4-1, 2-2 HAAC) posted its fifth shutout of 2012, while Avila (5-10, 0-4 HAAC) has now lost six straight.
The Green and Black led 1-0 after Valsien's first goal of the night in the 36th minute. He hit a shot from six yards out into the back of the net after a pass by Thyago Catharino.�
Valsien added an insurance goal in the 85th minute.�Murun Altankhuyag played a touch pass through two Avila defenders before the Boca Raton, Fla., native finished with his left foot past goalkeeper Jesus Revilla for his fourth goal of the season.
Goalkeeper German Schacht�made five saves for Central Methodist in the match.
Revilla had eight saves in 90 minutes.
Central Methodist doubled up Avila in shot attempts (28-14) and corner kicks (8-4).�
The Green and Black hosts�MidAmerica Nazarene University on Saturday at Davis Field. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. CT.
