FAYETTE, Mo. - No. 16 Baker (Kan.) broke a scoreless tie in the 53rd minute with the lone goal in Saturday's 1-0 victory over Central Methodist in the Heart of America Athletic Conference regular-season finale at Davis Field. The loss snaps the Eagles' two-match win streak.
Before the match, Eagles' seniors Cesar Golfetti, Erwin Sanchez Jr., Joao Paulo Cappellanes, Guilherme Frota, Daniel Vieira, Ricardo Valsien and Brendon Boucaud were recognized for their dedication to the program during their careers in Fayette.
Shemaiah Davis redirected a loose ball into the back of the net for Baker (11-5-2, 5-1-1).
Keeley Atkin scored the only goal Baker (7-5-6, 3-2-2) would need in the 13th minute from six yards out.
Cappellanes led Central Methodist (9-8-1, 1-6) with four shots on goal. The Eagles outshot the Wildcats, 18-6, and held an edge in corner kicks, 5-2.
Wildcats' goalkeepers Matt Bickley made eight saves to record the clean sheet.
Eagles' netminder German Schacht came up with two saves.
