CMU falls late to #25 LUB, 2-1


BELLEVILLE, Ill. - No. 25 Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.) broke a halftime tie with a goal in the 84th minute and defeated Central Methodist 2-1 at Lynx Soccer Field on Wednesday.

Central Methodist (6-5) took a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute when Luis Costa connected with Tyler Neis, who beat Lindenwood-Belleville (10-1) goalkeeper Nicolas Nicolaci for his Heart of America Athletic Conference leading 13th goal. Costa has one assist in the last five matches.

Cesar Acosta tied the game in the ninth minute, and the game went into intermission tied at one.

The Lynx scored what proved to be the game-winner late in the second period when Johan Sundberg used a Sebastian Reyes free kick from midfield.

Nicolaci (10-1) made two saves in 90 minutes.

Eagles' goalkeeper Andrew Bare played the first 45 minutes and made two saves, while�Carlos Ribera (5-4) was in net during the second half.

Central Methodist hosts Avila (Mo.) on Sunday, Oct. 12, at 7:30 p.m. CT.
