KANSAS CITY - Central Methodist freshman defender Santiago Padruno, senior midfielder Daniel Arrazola and senior forward Tyler Neis have been named to the 2014 All-Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) Men's Soccer Teams, the league office announced Tuesday. Padruno was named to the second team, while Arrazola and Neis were voted to the third team.
Padruno, who played in 18 games, totaled one goal and three assists. The Mexico City, Mexico, native, was a key to the Eagles' backline that ranked 34th in the NAIA in shutouts.�
Arrazola ranked second on the team in goals (8), assists (5) and points (21). In 17 games in his final collegiate season, the Santa Cruz, Bolivia, product posted 45 shots, 16 shots on goal and two game winning goals.
Neis led the HAAC in goals (14) and points (30) while ranking 20th in the NAIA in goals and 36th in points. In 18 games in 2014, the Arnold, Mo., native totaled 49 shots, 24 shots on goal and three game winning goals.
The Eagles finished the season 8-10 overall.
Missouri Valley junior midfielder Raul Beneit was named the league's Offensive Player of the Year, while MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) senior defender Aurelien Norest repeated as the conference's Defensive Player of the Year. The two players shared the top individual honor and were named Co-Most Valuable Player. Missouri Valley's Vladimir Simic was chosen the HAAC Coach of the Year.
