Eagles Stun 5th Ranked Vikings
Fayette, Mo. The Central Methodist University men's soccer team struck early against the 5th ranked Missouri Valley College Vikings on Wednesday evening, on their way to a 3-2 victory at Davis Field.

With the victory, Central Methodist improves to 6-1-2 overall and 1-1-0 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play. With the loss, the 5th ranked Missouri Valley College Vikings fall to 5-2-0 overall and 1-1-0 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play.

The Eagles came out aggressive on Wednesday evening, in a match that featured eight combined yellow cards and one red card.

Central Methodist got on the board first off of a free-kick from Rafael Ortiz-Ferreira that Andres Manuel Chalbaud put in the back of the net for the early 1-0 lead in the 21st minute.

Just 12 minutes later, CMU was at it again as Andres Manuel-Chalbaud his second goal of the evening on a pass from Daniel Tesoro. David Hillmann added the third goal of the evening for the Eagles to give CMU a 3-0 lead headed into halftime.

In the second half, both teams came out slow before the Vikings came alive. Juan Carlos Heras scored the Vikings first goal of the evening in the 69th minute to draw within two goals at 3-1.

Then in the 86th minute, Raul Beneit was awarded with a penalty kick and made the shot to make the score 3-2. Eagles' goalkeeper Cameron Metcalfe took exception to the goal and pushed Beneit after he came to grab the ball out of the net, Metcalfe was served with a yellow card for his actions.

Metcalfe earned the victory for CMU between the pipes, while recording eight saves.

The Eagles get set to head out on the road for a four match roadtrip beginning this Saturday when CMU travels to Kansas to face the University of Saint Mary for their final non-conference match of the season.
