Osterloh Powers Eagles Past YellowJackets

Lamoni, Iowa - The Central Methodist University men's soccer received a pair of goals from Richard Osterloh on Saturday evening, that helped propel the Eagles past the Graceland YellowJackets by a final of 2-1 at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.

With the victory, Central Methodist; who are currently receiving votes in the latest NAIA Top 25 Poll, improve to 10-1-2 overall and 4-1-0 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. With the loss, Graceland falls to 6-7 overall and 1-5 in The Heart.

Central Methodist got on the board early on Saturday, when Andres Manuel-Chalbaud found Richard Osterloh for the game's first goal in the seventh minute to give CMU the early 1-0 lead. That lead would hold into halftime for the Eagles.

Early in the second half, the Eagles were able to find the back of the net once again thanks to Richard Osterloh. This time Rafael Ortiz-Ferreira found Osterloh for his second goal of the night to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.

With less than a minute remaining in the match, Sergi Trullas scored for Graceland University to cut the CMU lead to a goal, making the score 2-1 in favor of the Eagles. Central Methodist held on for the final seconds to claim the hard fought conference victory.

Eagles' goalkeeper Ferran Borras-Marques picked up the win in net while recording a pair of saves.

The Eagles return home for their final three home regular season matches beginning this Tuesday night. The CMU men hosts Culver-Stockton at Davis Field beginning at 7:30pm, immediately following the Lady Eagles match with Culver-Stockton.
