With the victory, Central Methodist; who are currently receiving votes in the latest NAIA Top 25 Poll, improve to 12-1-2 overall and 6-1-0 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play. Benedictine drops to 6-6-1 overall and 1-5-1 in The Heart.

Saturday's match was intense from the get-go, as neither team was able to score in the first half. Benedictine and CMU headed into the locker room tied at zero after 45 minutes of play.

In the second half, the intensity picked up as both teams realized how crucial a victory would be. Central Methodist struck for the game's first goal in the 64th minute thanks to Daniel Tesoro.

With a 1-0 lead, the Eagles looked to keep control of the ball. CMU caught an unlucky break in the 78th minute, when a tussle broke out in front of the Eagles net, leading to an own goal to tie the match at 1-1.

Following 90 minutes of play, the two teams were still tied at 1-1 and headed to overtime. After a scoreless first overtime, it came down to the final ten minutes in the second overtime.

In the 107th minute, Guilherme Gallucci fired a shot on goal on a pass from David Hillmann that beat Ravens goalkeeper Caleb Jenkins for the game-winning tally. Central Methodist claimed the 2-1 victory with a little over two minutes remaining in the match.

Ferran Borras-Marques recorded three saves in goal for the Eagles.

The Eagles men close out the home regular season portion of their schedule on Saturday October 24th. It will be Homecoming Weekend at CMU and the Eagles will host Grand View at 5pm at Davis Field. The women's match against Benedictine will follow at 7:30pm.
