Fayette, Mo. The Central Methodist University men's soccer team suffered a rare loss on Saturday, when the visiting Grand View Vikings came into Davis Field and shocked the Eagles with an early goal in overtime to claim the 2-1 victory.

With the loss, Central Methodist; who are currently receiving votes in the latest NAIA Top 25 Poll, fall to 12-2-2 overall and 6-2-0 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play. Grand View moves above the .500 mark with the victory at 8-7-1 overall and 5-3-0 in The Heart.

The Vikings got on the board early on Saturday, as Grand View struck for a goal off of the foot of Jordan Lucas in the second minute of the match to take the early 1-0 lead.

Central Methodist didn't waste any time, as they responded with a goal in the ninth minute when Andres Manuel-Chalbaud found Richard Osterloh for the equalizer. The 1-1 score would hold into halftime.

The second half was all about defense. Neither team would bend nor break following 45 minutes of play, Grand View and Central Methodist headed to overtime to decide a winner.

In the third minute of overtime, Simone Raiola put a shot on goal off a pass from Danton Irelan for Grand View and scored the game winner to stun the Eagles.

The Eagles head out on the road to close out the regular season with two final matches. First up, a road match at Avila on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30pm.
