Fayette, Mo. – The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced their first set of weekly awards on Monday, with Central Methodist University men's soccer goalkeeper Cameron Metcalfe (SO/Durham, England) earning The Heart's Men's Soccer Defender of the Week Award.

"Cameron (Metcalfe) has been controlling things in the back for us this past week and for all of preseason," said CMU head men's soccer coach Alex Nichols. "His toughness on all set pieces and restarts, has made us very difficult to score on. Even playing a man down for 105 minutes against Hannibal, we managed to keep a clean sheet. This defensive player of the week honor is well deserved for Cameron."

Last week, the Eagles played a pair of matches; one at home against Harris-Stowe State University, and one road match at Hannibal-LaGrange University. Metcalfe played a half against Harris-Stowe State and the entire game against Hannibal-LaGrange. Metcalfe is 1-0-1 on the year, while not allowing a single goal in 155 minutes played, while recording seven saves.

CMU returns to action Wednesday, when they host Tabor College at 7:30pm at Davis Field.
